Mission & History

In January 2018, the United Advocacy Group purchased a makerspace called STEAMWorks in Bridgeton to promote STEAM education for children and adults in Cumberland County. Their mission is to promote high-tech education and careers for the future.

Field Trips at STEAMWorks

STEAMWorks offers a wide variety of educational and fun STEAM activities for students ages six years old and up. Groups rotate through workshops that expose them to a number of our courses and engage them in problem solving activities. Schools or programs interested in taking a field trip to STEAMWorks should contact the Program Manager listed at the bottom of the page.

*Schedules, date and times are flexible to help fit school or programs needs. *Scholarships covering up to half of tuition cost are offered on a case by case basis.

Fix it Fridays!

Every first Friday, STEAMWorks hosts Fix it Fridays, inviting anyone from the community to stop in and get assistance fixing their broken objects. Items can be wood, plastic, fabric, ceramic, metal - any favorite, irreplaceable objects that are broken, or that you don't want to throw away. They’ll discuss possible solutions with you and fix it on the spot if they can. Otherwise, you’ll leave with a plan on how to do it yourself. This is a completely free service offered by STEAMWorks!
