Cultivating Independence Through Intentional Relationships

Mission

To support and empower youth impacted by the foster care system to achieve their self-determined goals, preparing to be successful in life as they transition into independent, healthy adults.

The Compass Program assists youth and young adults that have been involved in the foster care system, to achieve their goals for a successful future. At times, youth who have experienced foster care face unique challenges such as lack of social support, financial barriers, education and career limitations and housing insecurity. The program aims to come alongside of vulnerable young people and help them develop skills for self-sufficiency to improve their chances for success.

Through a focus on education, life skills, positive decision making and self-advocacy, youth are equipped to transition into independent healthy adults. We prioritize goal setting that includes obtaining higher education, training in a trade, employment readiness, time management, communication, mental and physical health and overall self-awareness.

Eligibility Criteria: Ages 14-24 that at one point in time have had an open DCPP case or were involved in the foster care system.
